Yet another cash grab
This app was great when it was free, but not only does the app cost money, but it charges you *monthly* rather than a one-time purchase. Gross.
Is there actually a free version of this?
To clarify, I purchased a printed guide and scanned in the barcode to get what I thought would be free, limited versions of the content on the app. I put in my time planning out my trip and putting in my preferences. Now it doesn’t work at all. Most obnoxiously, lonely planet is replaying their long endless ad for an upgrade subscription. I’m not talking about not getting the upgrade content. I know I have no contact at all, even of the printed guide that I have purchased. This app was not billed as a free limited time preview. I was not told that that the content will be turned off at any point. I also join the others regarding the ridiculousness of forcing us to upgrade to all 8000 guides. I don’t care how hard-working their researchers are. If they’re researching for a city I don’t care about, I don’t want to pay for it. They can stop their research,For all I care. :) And if the upgraded version is as annoying and rapacious as the free version, then I have no interest. What a lovely, innovative way to lose and alienate longtime customers and fans.

Was expecting this to be like the books. Was expecting places like the Grand canyon to be on there.... Useless app when it's only cities that don't help

Guys, what am I missing here. I’ve signed up for two different subscriptions and can’t get either to work. This has to be made to be easier. All I want to do is watch globe trekker on my tv via iPhone Apple TV or whatever.

Disappointed
I’ve had this app for a long time, to only now discover a pay wall. It made sense to purchase the extra services but not to simple browse. No one is traveling right now during the global pandemic guess they have to make money someone. Ridiculous.
