Dark mode
If it is available, I do not know how to get it. If not, then that is a problem for me. Otherwise the app seems fine on my iPhone.
Disappointing app
For such a well produced print magazine, it is shockingly bad that you cannot produce a workable app. The only good things about the app are: (1) it retains your location in an article so you can come back (unlike the old app) and (2) the audio play option for some articles. Some of the disappointments: (1) no dedicated section to the current week’s cartoons; and (2) no table of contents for the current issue. Please hire some app developers to improve this.
no indication of which stories have audio / login is terrible
For the visually impaired, audio is great! If only content could be sorted by this feature! Lacking that, a search function could make the app useful. But there isn’t one. Logging in is an exercise in frustration. No other modern app fails to provide an icon that makes a password visible. to avoid login errors. Nope. So: audio icon next to the article. Show password icon. Search. There… FIFY.

Text resize function doesn’t work
This pertains to the iPad version of the app. The text resize slider is permanently fixed to the smallest text size setting.
Awkward and disappointing
I had enjoyed the previous digital version that I had (maybe from New Yorker itself, not Apple app….?) as it looked like and flowed like the magazine, so was the same experience - essentially - as I shifted between them. This app version appears to run issues together and it is not clear when I am actually reading the specific magazine I want to read. And the page turning of the cartoons is fun, I guess, but I liked encountering them on the pages of the magazine as I read - the way the print copy is. Not sure I’ll continue with this

A reading app in 2021 must support Dark Mode for accessibility purposes.
