Are You Tired Of “Dumbed Down” Language?
Have you ever felt you’re actually living in the future portrayed in the film “Idiocracy?” I tried it, loved it and purchased EVERY available IAP. This App provides an incredible amount of information, quickly and it’s always right at your fingertips. Highest Recommendation!
Fix
dictionary pro is my go to source if I’m looking at learning a new word/phrase.. it’s been excellent so far until the recent update. After updating, all the features that comes with it vanished into thin air.. can’t tell if it’s a glitch or it was intentional on the part of the developers.. I can’t find the idioms, example, learners encyclopedia and all the other functions that it came with.. would be glad if this could be fixed in the next update.
stability issues gone
Seems like most of the stability issues of the previous version are gone. For instance tapping “recents” doesn’t instantly kill the app anymore. I’ve yet to see the improvement over even earlier versions though (7.x) because we’re now being tracked, traced and profiled by a questionable cookie policy. Mind you, this is not the free dictionary.com website, it’s the app that I purchased with all in-app options unlocked.
Subscribe?
It can be done in the web site, but I noticed there is no way to create an account in the iPhone app. I'm afraid I will loose my Favorite list if I needed to re-install the app.
Offline Bug
The download for offline is stuck and I can’t start or restart it. It won’t move and I can’t turn it off or stop it. Using offline only won’t work at all now and there isn’t a way to cancel and restart. I also can’t see any of the pro feature I bought. And I bought all of them. Which means I’ve spent like $18 for this app over time. Stupid.
New UI — IPA
The new UI is functional, but it would be much better if it integrated into iOS design language. Also, the icon is poorly designed and suffers from some strange drop shadow effect in the misaligned border. My biggest issue is that the IPA pronunciation returns to “standard English” with each search. Why?
Not a fan of the latest update
I used to love reading the different articles the app used to display (sometimes even fun short videos) — now there’s no content. The quizzes and practice stuff is neat, but can you bring back the articles too please! ☹️
