Great program
My earlier review is nonsense. Once you understand how the program works (and it's not that difficult to read a manual - sheesh), it becomes quite fun and musically enlightening. For someone who has always composed with notes this is something of an eye-opener. I also come from a neuroscientific background and this program is alot like creating neural networks with emergent properties of many interconnected neurons (nodes) realized aurally and visually. The output of this program is endlessly fascinating.
Superb Generative Music Tool
Nodal is an impressive tool. I have worked with Max/MSP, PureData (Pd), Reason, and other tools that combine generative and procedural techniques. Nodal definitely proves to be immersive and with a low learning curve - especially when compared with systems such as Pd and MAX/MSP. I would definitely recommend this if you like interactive performance tools such as the Tenori-On or Electroplankton.
