Good app, with problems.
This is a good app and is worth the price for the content (I've purchased all three levels). However, it has A LOT of duplicate words. It is missing a lot of words that are included in the official word lists for the Goethe-Institut's exams. And the usability is poor. Most flashcard programs allow you to organize words into five different levels of proficiency. This app allows only two. It doesn't shuffle the words. There's no tracking or smart-recall. If you list that you know 1,000 words, to review them you need to flip through all 1,000 flashcards. That's not practical at all. Like I said, it is worth the price for the content: the words, the audio, the example sentences, the translations, etc.. However, as an app it fails; the usability is really poor. If the developer updates the app, I will gladly give this app the 5 stars it deserves.

Deutsch-Box ist sehr angewandt und hilft mir, aber es gibt wenige Probleme, weil sie sowie eine Lernkarten-Box nict funktioniert bzw. sie läuft nicht wie DaF kompakt und Brainscape. Sie legt die Karten nicht zu bestimmten Zeiten und Boxen fest und befragt uns nicht mit den bestimmten Zeiten.
A lot of words, but needs some work.
For a base A1 price of $8, it would be nice to have multitasking and more explanations for some things. The audio doesn't seem to be working in the A1 set either. But, it does offer a lot of words and you can use them offline; unlike the Goethe institut vocab trainer. The examples are nice. Having the ability to search for a specific word would be helpful. But hey, I was able to pass the A1 test, so it did help, and was worth the money because of that.

I absolutely love this product! It is probably the best German app currently available on the market. Great use of illustrations to help you contextualize the vocabulary you are trying to learn. I hope that they will soon add C1 and C2 vocabulary bundles. In the future it would be great to see this app track which words you know and don't know and build in a random spaced repetition function to test you daily. Note: if you download one of the vocabulary sets, to get it to load on another device you will have to click the 'purchase' button again. It will then alert you that you have already bought these flashcards, but then ask if you would you like to download them to your device again.
No multitasking and bad restoring of application state
The app is great, however it can be even better. It lacks iOS multitasking support. When I switch to another app and switch back even right away, it terminates and then restarts. Not only does it take its time to relaunch, but it restores its state incorrectly. It doesn't restore exactly the same set of cards that was on exit. Looks like it restores some state from the past. With these two things implemented properly application will be perfect. Also there is a drop in FPS when flipping the card. The animation isn't as smooth on iPhone 4 as it is on iPad 2.

I had been looking for stuff from Hueber since i'm learning with ther Delfin books. I think this is a great way to compliment those books. Hopefully they will release more stuff to work with their books.
