This app is easy to use and very handy, but it repeats a lot of its question so you end up just memorizing the answers instead of learning the material. And some of the explanations for the answers are lacking real information. It’s just not worth $20. I would happily pay $5 but not much more.

This app is visually appealing and has pretty easy navigation but there are some draw backs. Let me start off my saying, I went ahead and bought the pro version for $19.99, that way I could study specific test and modify my study plan. I noticed a couple of things right away. When choosing custom exams, under the Content of exams tab, there is sometimes an L1 test for Advanced Engine Performance Specialist. It’s not always under the tab and when you close out the app then come back it will sometimes pop up and other times it won’t. Would be nice to have it all of the time. My other issue is the question that are generated. They don’t seem ASE worthy. I’ve studied a lot of ASE books and even bought a few vouchers from ASE to study from their guides and a lot of questions from pocket prep don’t match or even come up on anything I’ve ever studied. The question don’t have any diagrams like you see on an official ASE test plus they are super repetitive. I don’t know if this is because they don’t have enough questions in the system to riffle through or because that’s just how it was designed. It would be super nice to see these changes and to have more official questions.

Don’t waste your time studying these questions or your money... this app had me studying bogus questions that wasn’t even on the test. No one single question was on the ASE test.. very disappointed

It works fine. The app has a couple bugs and they are still pretty noticeable. They have been removing some bugs, like the one that made in unusable unless you turn on airplane mode. Also, some taps don’t register properly, causing you to click on too many answers. But it’s fine, because it’s all just practice. The way it works is you select whatever tests that you want to study, how many questions you want to answer, whether you want the answers during or after the test, and the option to set a timer. The timer really is unnecessary but I can see how it may help some people. I like to do it like this - 10 questions, select 1 subject, show answers during the test. And if I don’t know what they are asking, I google it and study up on that particular topic. Then, it shows me my answer and tells me why it was wrong and providing more material to study. The free version probably has more value, but once you answer everything, it becomes useless. The paid version is very nice, if you don’t think about the bugs, of course. I wish they could add new questions or cycle through a larger pool of questions every so often. That way, they would feel new again. If you are studying one subject, you start to remember the answers before you even finish the question. Overall: This app does what it is supposed to do and gives you questions to think about and study. It’s great if you have little time to study, as you can do a quick 5 questions, or 20 questions before you even get out of bed in the morning. It did help me pass 3 ASE tests so far, and I plan on continuing to use it.

Makes learning fun and helpful for me

I think this app is so useful and great for refreshing your memory. The creators are great as well and have helped me to understand questions better. I got a question wrong, I thought I was right (like many other people). So I contacted them through the app. They responded within the hour and explained to me how I got it wrong and why the right answer was the right answer. Found out I was taking key words the wrong way and after they explained I admit they were right. So I would say 5 stars. Hope they add a simple explanation as to why other answers are wrong as I think it would further teach people and make them rethink there answer. Good job guys.

What a waste of my time and money. The few questions that actually make sense seem to be based on ASE tests from 25 years ago. Iron blocks? Seriously? The wording is awkward, the terminology confusing at best. This is a poorly researched “learning” tool.
